A scheme that gives people the right to ask police if their partner has a history of domestic violence is to be extended nationwide.Clare's Law, which has been trialled by four police forces, is named after Clare Wood, who was strangled and set on fire by her ex-boyfriend George Appleton in 2009.
Police run checks and speak to agencies such as the Prison Service, the Probation Service and Social Services.
